Surely the most famous of the Tapa and accompaniments and to the ever increasing number of us who travel to Spain each year (just under 19 million in 2017), one which brings back many fond memories of sun, sea and holidays.
The name comes from the Catalan for “Garlic and Oil” and you would struggle not to find it anywhere Spanish food is served. Whilst the ingredients of this quintessentially Mediterranean product are simple; the inclusion of fresh garlic and the balance between sunflower and extra virgin olive oil creates for us, the best product on the wider domestic market.
The oil and egg produce a sumptuous, rich consistency to pair the clean, but not overpowering aroma of natural garlic. Much like the other classic accompaniments, Ali Oli is best enjoyed with crusty bread or Spanish tortillas, a glass of cold beer and shared in good company.
